Special session
Chemical weather forecasting / chemical transport modelling
Conveners: Jaakko Kukkonen (FMI) and Tim Butler (MCIP)
You are kindly invited to contribute to the special session on "Chemical weather forecasting / chemical transport modelling" with oral or poster presentations. Please select topic "Chemical weather forecasting / chemical transport modelling" while submitting your abstract. Methods that include a combination of weather forecasting and atmospheric chemistry simulations are here referred to as chemical weather forecasting.
List of topics included in this special session:
- Chemical weather forecasting, including model development and evaluation studies against experimental data.
- Topical research issues, such as volcanic eruptions, nuclear incidents and wild-land fires.
- Regional, continental and global scale applications of the chemical weather forecasting models.
- New results of major current international research projects and actions, such as, for instance, the recently completed COST ES0602, EuMetChem COST Action, TRANSPHORM, MACC, PASODOBLE, PEGASOS, EUCAARI, MEGAPOLI, CityZen, AQMEII Initiative and others.
- New research directions, for instance, regarding emission inventories, the integration of numerical weather prediction and atmospheric chemical transport models, boundary conditions and nesting of models, data assimilation of the various chemical species, improved understanding and parameterization of physical processes, improved methods for the evaluation of models against data and the construction of model ensembles.
This session will be organised in cooperation with and based on several current or recently finalised international projects, e.g. COST ES0602, EuMetChem COST Action, TRANSPHORM, MEGAPOLI, MACC, PASODOBLE, PEGASOS and others.
