Special session

Air Quality and Climate/Meteorology Interactions and Feedbacks
Conveners: Alexander Baklanov (DMI), Michael Gauss (Met.no), Markku Kulmala (University of Helsinki)

You are kindly invited to contribute to the special session on "Air Quality and Climate/Meteorology Interactions and Feedbacks" with oral or poster presentations. Please select topic "special session Air Quality and Climate/Meteorology Interactions and Feedbacks" while submitting your abstract.

List of topics included in this special session

  • Integrated online coupled Atmospheric Chemistry Transport and Meteorology/Climate modelling systems: new model refinements and the evaluation of models against experimental data.
  • Aerosol and gas forcing on meteorological processes and climate change: main mechanisms, their prioritising and modelling.
  • Impacts of megacities and large air-pollution hot-spots on local, regional and global air quality and climate.
  • Feedback mechanisms including effects of climate change on air quality on local, regional and global scales.
  • New results of major current international research projects, such as, for instance, the EuMetChem COST Action, EUCAARI, MEGAPOLI, CityZen, TRANSPHORM and PEGASOS projects, AQMEII Initiative and others.

This session will be organised in cooperation with and based on several current or recently finalised international projects, e.g. the EC FP6 IP EUCAARI "European Integrated project on Aerosol Cloud Climate and Air Quality Interactions", the EC FP7 projects MEGAPOLI "Megacities: Emissions, urban, regional and Global Atmospheric POLlution and climate effects, and Integrated tools for assessment and mitigation" and CityZen "MegaCITY - Zoom for the ENvironment", the COST Action ES1004 EuMetChem "European framework for online integrated air quality and meteorology modelling", and others.
